Enrollment:
The After School Program is a fee-based program for students in kindergarten through 8 th grade
who are enrolled at The Alva School. Students must be able to function in a group with a
supervision ratio of 15:1 and be self-sufficient in bathroom procedures. Registration is required yearly and is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration may be suspended if enrollment reaches program capacity. After 4:00 you can reach us at 728-3115. This is the only number that works to the school after 4:00.
Hours/Fees:
A.M. Program: 6:30—7:25 $3.00 per child per day/$15.00 per week
P.M. Program: 2:10—6:00 $10.00 per child per day/$50.00 per week
$10.00 sibling rate
There is a one-time $30 registration fee per child. This fee is due before your child‘s first day.
Program Dates:
The Alva Care After School Program is only in session on school days . There is no program when children are out of school for Half-Days in the afternoon, Teacher Duty Days, In-service Days, and all District Observed Holidays including Winter Break and Spring Break.
Payment:
Our program operates on a pre-pay basis . We will be taking credit cards/debit cards this year. Checks should be made payable to The Alva School and should include the student’s name on the memo line. It is very important to maintain a zero balance every week. Please be aware, if your account becomes past due, you will be called to pick up your child. Unpaid balances are subject to collection. Please keep a calendar of your child’s attendance. It is a very tedious process for our bookkeeper to go through the sign in sheets to figure out the exact dates. If you owe a balance, your child will get notifications home and you will be called to come and pick up your child. The Florida Constitution Article VII prohibits the School District from extending credit to any individual or corporation. Therefore, after an attempt is made to collect any outstanding fees, dismissal from the program will occur for non-payment and the account will be turned over for collections .
Returned Checks:
Any check returned for insufficient funds will be charged a $20.00 service charge. After a returned check, parents will be requested to pay in cash.
Late Pick up Fee:
A late fee will be charged for pick up after 6:00 p.m. The fee is $5.00 for the first minute and $2.00 per minute per child after 6:00 p.m., according to the school office clock. Late fees are due no later than the following day. Nonpayment of late fees or tardiness in excess of two times will result in your child’s dismissal from the program. Please know to call 728-3115 for after school hours.
Teacher Notification:
It is necessary that your child’s teacher be notified, in writing , when your child is to attend the program if he/she does not attend on a daily basis
